Putting my why into words… on a shiny new website!

Today I am so very excited to share my refreshed website…

After years (YEARS!) of learning, growing and just plain working, the home of my content strategy business now puts into words the mission behind my offering: to create content that SELLS for tech startups looking to access the sports industry.

It feels so incredibly good to type that.

My career to date has taken a lot of turns. And I can truly say that each turn brought me closer to my dream: to build and run a sustainable, profitable business. I never knew how I’d do it or what I’d do, but here I am.

Over the years I’ve read so many articles about entrepreneurship. I’ve googled so many things. How to write a business plan, how to start an agency, freelancers insurance… the list goes on. I’ve also had the privilege of watching BOTH of my parents build successful businesses from nothing. Nothing but their own experience and hard work. Having had a front row seat to entrepreneurship all those years was a true blessing, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without that example of success and perseverance.

My family was built on entrepreneurship. And I guess that’s pretty common. But the thing is, I saw it and I knew I wanted it for myself. It’s almost like I had to have it. But what I would do? That was the real mystery, and I worked on solving that for years. Lists, letters to myself in various notebooks, soul searches. And really the best thing about it all is that these efforts did pan out in the end. Because at some level I was always focused on breaking out of the traditional workforce to start my own thing. I was able to take small steps toward that goal each year, despite being employed full time.

And so here I am. One year and eight months into MY small business. A business that makes money and makes my clients happy. A business that grew slowly. Out of years of hard work. Years of working for other people. Learning from them. Watching the ones that inspired me and stashing away their best practices for a time that I’d need them later.

I spent ten years climbing the sports industry ladder before I went off on my own. Five years as a freelance writer. Six years teaching college courses… and that’s all led me to where I am today. To say that I’m grateful to those who gave me little pushes along the way is an understatement. But I’m also grateful to myself for just plain doing it. For not giving up when times got tough, which they did a few times. For pushing through the little years of my kids’ lives and continuing to take small, slow steps toward my goals. It was hard, but it was worth it!

And today I am proud to take the next step of many. Today I am officially introducing my new website and blog with the mission of providing actionable content strategy and tangible results to startups looking to access the sports industry with their products and services. I believe that anyone can create great content. Blogs, podcasts, e-books, case studies — the sky is the limit!

And one last thing before I go. I firmly believe that while press coverage is something all businesses strive for, original and compelling content does not need the press. Great content can stand on its own and do great things.

Thank you for visiting my site and for following along with me on my journey!
